Oak Street, Chicago

As Director, Store Design and Planning at Lafayette 148, I led this renovation from concept design through construction. On site with the general contractor, we found solutions that reduced cost and schedule while protecting the design intent. Shown here as built.

01

Design + planning

I reimagined an existing retail space to reflect the Lafayette 148 aesthetic. To protect the budget and schedule, I kept the existing structure, facade and flooring, even though they weren’t the brand’s first choice.

New furniture, fixtures, ceiling design, rugs and decor brought the space in line with the brand and created a cohesive environment.

02

Collaboration + coordination

I worked with leadership, creative and retail teams to set design direction and priorities. My sketches, models and renderings tested proportions and custom fixtures, then became design-intent drawings for the local architect, consultants and suppliers.

Bringing the general contractor in during design development let us work through cost and schedule impacts together and find savings without compromising the design intent.
